Title: Working at Biotech Companies in the San Francisco Bay Area
Abstract:
The San Francisco Bay Area, also known as Silicon Valley for its southern portion, is well known as the world center of the IT industry. Many IT companies, such as Apple, Google and Facebook, are located there. The Bay Area is also famous as the birth place of the biotech industry. Genentech and Gilead are two exemplary successful biotech companies in this area. In addition, many new biotech companies are starting even now in the Bay Area, partly because the system to support venture companies financially and socially is well established. Another important factor is the local culture to respect challenging spirits and individualism. In this talk, I will present an overview of the working style and condition at biotech companies in the Bay Area, which hopefully provides a hint for career planning of junior researchers.
