Title: Minamata treaty and Journalism
Abstract:
The U.N. historic new treaty of "Minamata Convention on Mercury" was adopted in Kumamoto on October 10, 2013. After half a century or more passed from the outbreak of Minamata disease in Kumamoto, about 140 countries of the world agreed to the regulation by the treaty.
In this treaty, what is regulated by when? What kind of role did the science play for regulation of mercury? I comment on these problems while watching the pictures of the international mercury conference in Edinburgh of Scotland.
I would like to comment on what is important for a person to be a science journalist at a Japanese newspaper publishing company.
