Speaker:  Syuichi Sakamoto (Former employee of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd./ Alumnus of Kumamoto University)
Mr. Sakamoto was born in Kumamoto. He graduated from Faculty of Law and Literature, Kumamoto University. He studied ethics and philosophy at university. 
In 1974, he got a job with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Since 1987, after he worked as a chief of planning section at the Tokyo branch, he led the product development and branding strategy of Otsuka's anchor product "Pocari Sweat" as PPM (Product Portfolio Manager). He has work experiences as a director of Saga Nutraceuticals Research Institute (1991-), an advertising manager (1995-), a director of Otsu Skincare Research Institute (1999-), a branch office manager in Osaka (2001-), a manager of business department and chairman of Product Information Committee (2004-). In 2010, he transferred to Otsuka Pharmaceutical Factory, Inc. and he has worked as a chairman of OS-1 Business Division Project Information Committee. 
As his activities in industry organization, he has experienced as a committee member of the Japan Containers and Air Packing Recycle Association (Project Committee), Japan Soft Drink Association (Steering Committee), The Beverage Industry Environment Beautification Association and Japan Health and Nutrition Food Association.  
In 2012 he returned back to Kumamoto and he served as a part-time corporate advisor of Otsuka Pharmaceutical. On March 2013, he left the company.
Today, he is also studying as a research student at Graduate School of Social and Cultural Science, Kumamoto University.

The lecture will talk about following topics.  

１. My business experience over 40-year with a focus on the Theory of Brand-Glider
He will talk about the reality of branding in the company from late-Showa era to Heisei era, his own branding theory and a corporate way of life based on his own business experiences with particular cases.
２. Law, Institute and Industry related to "Food and Health" focusing on recent topics
Human's victuals are only foods or medicines. They have a close relationship with human health. On the other side, the relationship is blurry and tough to be certain in terms of legal system and science, so there are some dimensions haven't reached consensus in society. This lecture will think of the relationship between medical care, food, legal system, institution, industry and its challenges with a focus on these topics.
