In this seminar, she will talk about two topics as follows.

Title:  To secure the safety of imported food

Abstract:
Most of consumers are interested in the false food labeling and food poisoning caused by meat for eating raw and tsukemono (= pickled Japanese vegetables). Japan relies 60% of foods consumed on the food that is imported from other countries (= imported foods). Japan can no longer support its people's diet without imported food. In order to secure the "safety of diet" of Japanese people, the food sanitation inspectors of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) carry out document examination and inspection to see the legality of foods and products under the Food Sanitation Law.

In this lecture, I will introduce the recent trends in 1) imported food inspection system, 2) correspondence in the case of noncompliance, and 3) a relationship between exporting country and Japanese local government.

Further, I will introduce the administrative efforts such as 4) HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system, 5) approval of the type of foods or facilities and guide business, 6) risk communication between consumers and business facilities. In pushing forward above duties, communication ability is the most required for the public official. Finally, I will talk about women's work-life balance from my own experiences. I hope my talk will help your future carrier planning.
